At the November meeting there was some discussion of the Eudora E-mail program. There might be some interest in obtaining Eudora as an alternative to Microsoft Outlook.

There are two versions of Eudora. Both can be downloaded for free from http://eudora.qualcomm.com/dora Lite is a small version and has fewer features than Eudora 5.1 but is absolutely free. Qualcomm only asks that you register it after installation.

Eudora 5.1 is a full featured E-mail program and can be downloaded from the same address or can be purchased for $39.95. I have seen it at Office Depot and perhaps Office Max. Eudora 5.1 is a 6.4 Mb. file. If you download the program it doesn't cost you anything at the time but when you register it you have two choices. You may choose either "Sponsored" mode or "Paid" mode. If you choose Sponsored mode you don't pay any money but ads will pop up in a 1 1/2 x 2 In. window in the lower left portion of your Eudora screen. They are fairly unobtrusive. If you choose Paid mode you pay $39.95 just as you would if the program was purchased at the store. I chose Sponsored mode and hardly notice the ads. I am using Eudora 4.3 and have not upgraded to version 5.1 but have found Eudora to be a very dependable E-mail program.
