President’s Corner

The year got off to a good start at our meeting on January 21st. With 24 members present (but unfortunately, no guests), we had a very lively Q&A with questions ranging from, “How do I keep the video and sound in sync when I burn my edited home videos to DVD?”, to “Why do I keep seeing icons for my files when I keep telling Windows Explorer to show them as a list?”.

These Q&A sessions are one of the ways we pursue our objective which, as our founding fathers put it, is, “…to provide a forum for members to share information and experiences that will help other members obtain maximum benefit and enjoyment from the use of their personal computers.” Another is the more formal presentations on specific topics either by one of our members or by someone from outside the Group. We have programs already scheduled on The Care and Feeding of Your Computer, Personal Backup Practices, and Spyware and Antivirus Software for our February, March, and May meetings. Beyond that, we need your help. Call, email, or physically corner any member of the board and tell him what you want. If you have some burning personal interest and would be willing to present a program to the rest of us, wave red flags, jump up and down, scream and yell to make sure we do not miss or overlook you. Some of our best programs have been home grown, and we have a great wealth of knowledge and experience among us.

We have a strong Executive Board, and I look forward to working with them this year as President. I want to thank David Hinds, who will remain on the Board, for his hard work as President these past two years, and welcome Robert Davis as our new Vice President. Welcome aboard, Robert!
