Thanks to Ken Hreha for an excellent primer on tomatoes—er, I mean the Linux operating system last month. If you were there, you know more about groceries and Linux than you did before. If you missed it, well, you will just have to wonder about what the rest of us now know.
I'm sure that I speak for everyone when I say that we will all be looking forward to hearing Ken talk about Open Office / Star Office and how it compares to Microsoft Office at this month's meeting.
David Hinds and I have been working on getting a couple more Linux-based presentations lined up to give members a good overall view of the pros and cons of this operating system. We are currently lining up a couple of excellent speakers who have a lot of experience with Linux to discuss:
1) Comparing and contrasting the Linux operating system with the Windows operating system, and why they are so different "under the hood." You will learn why the Unix/Linux operating system is the backbone of the Internet, and Windows is not.
November will be our final
2) How to set up a fully functional computer very cost- effectively using Linux-based products. Stay tuned!
Meeting of the year.
So be sure to attend
And be full of holiday cheer.
We will have a drawing
For more neat giveaway things.
So don't forget to come next month
And see what Santa brings.
Thanks to all the members
For all the things you've done.
To make our club not just good
But make it number one!
