Google Adds Satellite Maps

SideBar

The opening paragraph to Google Adds Satellite Maps, found at http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7394347/ from The Associated Press is as follows:

"SAN FRANCISCO - Online search engine leader Google has unveiled a new feature that will enable its users to zoom in on homes and businesses using satellite images, an advance that may raise privacy concerns as well as intensify the competitive pressures on its rivals."

And... an email submitted from our recent Past President, Dale Oliver:

"Check this out...

I tested it using my home address (and others) and it's downright amazing. Go to http://maps.google.com and when you are viewing the map you're looking for, click the "Satellite" link in the upper right hand corner of the window. Or...you can start in satellite mode and put in the address (or search parameters) you want and switch back and forth between map and satellite views.

The click-and-drag map scrolling works with both the map and satellite views. You can even use the "to here" and "from here" feature to get directions, and it will give you a route map superimposed onto the satellite images!

Very, very cool.
