WinPatrol Revisited

I first notified you of WinPatrol (Scotty on patrol) in the January 2006 newsletter. Since that time I have learned much more about its services that you might be interested in.

In addition to constantly being on alert for system changes, which has been a big help to me, it provides considerable information on all the items in your startup file (the ones you get to with msconfig.exe at Start/Run). Just click on the Scotty in your Sys tray to get to it. It provides description of each startup item and what it does as well as info for each item under the following tabs: IE helper files, scheduled tasks, services running, active tasks, cookies, associated file types, and options. No more in the dark on what it means and does and what may happen if it is deactivated, in addition to assisting in trouble shooting. Try it at http://www.winpatrol.com
