USB 2.0 Transfer Rates

There has been some confusion with the various transfer rates in the USB 2.0 standard. The confusion appears to be caused by the different nomenclature used by product manufacturers. The USB Implementers Forun (USB-IF) has recommended to manufacturers the following nomenclature: 1.5 Mb/s (Megabits per second)or slow speed, 12 Mb/s or full-speed (the same as USB 1.1), and 480 Mb/s, or hi-speed, and is signified in the USB logos introduced in late 2000, as shown below and on the back page of the hard copy newsletter. Products using low or full speed (1.5 or 12 Mb/s) should be identified with the right hand logo and products using hi-speed (480 Mb/s) should use the left hand logo, with HI-SPEED shown in the top section of the logo, which incidentally, will be colored red.
